About these dates
Each festival page lists the day's tithi, paksha and lunar month, and links to the full Panchang for the day in your city. The date convention is the one most North Indian Panchang publishers use; the precise calls behind it are documented on the About page.
A few notes worth knowing:
- Festival dates depend on sunrise, which means they can shift by a day between widely separated locations. The Diwali page, for example, is based on New Delhi's sunrise; in cities far east (Singapore) or far west (New York), the same Amavasya can land on a different calendar date.
- Different sampradayas observe on different days for some festivals. ISKCON Ekadashi, Vaishnava Janmashtami and the Tamil / Bengali / Malayalam regional Panchang versions can land a day apart. For your community's specific dates, check your community's own calendar.
If your trusted Panchang shows a different date and you're not in one of the cases above, report the difference.
