Purnima dates 2026
Purnima is the full Moon - the 15th tithi of Shukla Paksha. Many Hindus observe a fast on Purnima, and several Purnimas across the year are themselves major festivals (Buddha Purnima, Guru Purnima, Sharad Purnima, Kartika Purnima).
There are 13 Purnima occurrences in the Gregorian year 2026. They include Adhika Jyeshtha Purnima during the intercalary lunar month. A count for January through December is separate from the number of months in a lunar year.

- Buddha Purnima - 1 May 2026 (Friday). Vaishakha Purnima; commemorates the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of the Buddha.
- Guru Purnima - 29 Jul 2026 (Wednesday). Ashadha Purnima; honors spiritual and academic teachers.
- Raksha Bandhan - 28 Aug 2026 (Friday). Shravana Purnima; the dedicated page explains the timing restriction.
- Sharad Purnima - 25 Oct 2026 (Sunday). Ashwina Purnima; an autumn full-Moon observance.
- Kartika Purnima - 24 Nov 2026 (Tuesday). Marks Dev Diwali on the Ganges and the end of the Chaturmas vrats.
Why some Purnimas span two days
A Purnima can begin after sunrise and continue into the next civil date. Two entries do not mean it is present at both sunrises, and the earlier date is not automatically the festival or fasting day. The table identifies each occurrence rather than every civil date touched by its complete interval. Use the relevant festival's rule and the local Panchang for a particular observance.
