Kundli guide

The second house in Kundli

The second house, or Dhana bhava, brings together accumulated resources, family, food and speech. These are related areas of support and everyday life, but a reading of one does not automatically settle the others.

Resources and what is retained

The second house concerns resources already held. The eleventh house concerns gains and fulfilled aims, while the twelfth concerns expenditure. Earning, keeping and spending are therefore separate questions in a traditional reading.

A connection between the second and eleventh lords brings retention and gains into the same discussion. It does not supply an amount of money, and a favourable financial reading cannot simply be extended into a claim that family relationships are equally easy.

Speech and family context

Speech includes the way a person uses words; family concerns the setting from which support and habits develop. These meanings explain why the second house is consulted for more than wealth. A difficult placement is not a diagnosis of a speech disorder or a judgment of someone's family.

Finding the second lord

With Cancer lagna, Leo is the second whole-sign house and the Sun is its lord. The Sun's position connects these second-house topics with the house it occupies. An occupant of Leo contributes separately. The house-lord guide explains that distinction, including when the second house is empty.

Planets in the second house

These guides explain each placement and the conditions that qualify its interpretation.
