Rashi drishti: sign aspects in Kundli
Rashi drishti is a system of sign aspects used in Jaimini-oriented readings. It is separate from graha drishti, where different grahas have different aspect counts.
The sign rule
| Casting sign type | Receiving signs |
|---|---|
| Movable | Fixed signs, excluding the immediately following sign |
| Fixed | Movable signs, excluding the immediately preceding sign |
| Dual | The other three dual signs |
The sign directory lists these groups. The sign itself is not included as its own aspect.
For example, Aries is movable. It aspects Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, but excludes Taurus, the adjacent fixed sign. Gemini is dual and aspects Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
Reading the table
The House and Sign columns identify the casting sign's place in this chart. Aspects houses names the receiving houses counted from lagna. Grahas there identifies grahas in the casting sign that participate through that sign's aspect pattern.
In a schematic Cancer-lagna chart, Aries is house 10. Its receiving signs Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius are houses 2, 5 and 8. Changing the lagna changes the house numbers, not Aries's sign-aspect set.
What the table does not combine
Do not substitute Mars's fourth and eighth graha aspects into this sign rule merely because Mars rules Aries. Rashi drishti and graha drishti are separate relationships.
Likewise, this table is not the numerical Drishti component of Shadbala. It identifies a pattern to consider within a stated traditional reading, without calculating a personal consequence.
See the chart and its tables on the Kundli page.
