Planetary transits in Kundli
A transit is a graha's position at the moment the chart page is computed. The natal chart describes the birth moment; the transit table compares the current sky with that fixed birth reference.
The timestamp uses the chart's displayed clock zone. A printout preserves that snapshot. Recomputing later updates transits without changing the birth inputs.
Read the two house counts
From the lagna counts whole signs from the natal ascendant sign. From the Moon counts from the natal Moon sign. These columns need not agree.
For a schematic Cancer lagna and Libra birth Moon, a transiting graha in Capricorn is seventh from lagna and fourth from the Moon. The current sign is Capricorn in both comparisons.
Transit rows show motion marks and sign-based dignity marks where applicable. They do not repeat every natal test: a natal eclipse or combustion mark should not be assumed to have been recalculated merely because the transit table uses the same graha name.
Bindus
Bindus is the graha's own natal Ashtakavarga score for the sign it is currently crossing, out of eight. It is not the aggregate Sarva score. Rahu and Ketu have blank entries because they have no individual score in this scheme; blank is not zero.
Moon Tara
Tara counts from the birth Moon's nakshatra to the current Moon's nakshatra, inclusively, repeating a nine-part sequence through the 27 nakshatras.
| Position in each group of nine | Name | Traditional category |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Janma | Birth reference |
| 2 | Sampat | Resources |
| 3 | Vipat | Difficulty |
| 4 | Kshema | Well-being |
| 5 | Pratyak | Obstruction |
| 6 | Sadhana | Accomplishment |
| 7 | Naidhana | A difficult category |
| 8 | Mitra | Friendly |
| 9 | Parama Mitra | Closely friendly |
For example, counting from Ashwini to Krittika gives three, so the category is Vipat. This is a counting example, not a personal day verdict. The traditional names do not predict an event, health outcome or death.
Sign changes
The ingress list covers Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu over the next three years, limited by the supported date range. Enters is the new sign; On is the crossing date. Moving back identifies re-entry into the previous sign.
Retrogression can produce repeated crossings. Mean nodes move backwards, while true nodes can briefly move forward. These are position changes, not new natal placements.
Saturn from the Moon has its own phase table. Dashas use a different timing framework and should not be confused with these astronomical crossings.
See the chart and its tables on the Kundli page.
