Planetary friendship in Kundli

The friendship table compares grahas under a traditional relationship scheme. Its labels describe that scheme, not friendship or hostility between real people.

Two layers are combined: natural friendship, assigned to a pair of grahas, and temporary friendship, based on their sign positions in this chart.

Reading a cell

Choose the graha at the start of a row and the other graha at the top of a column. Natural relationships can be directional, so reversing row and column need not produce the same result.

Temporary friends occupy the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th or 12th signs from one another, counting the occupied sign as first. The remaining relative positions are temporary enmity in this scheme.

Natural relationship Temporary friend Temporary enemy
Friend Great Friend Neutral
Neutral Friend Enemy
Enemy Neutral Great Enemy

A schematic graha in Aries and another in Gemini are temporarily friendly: Gemini is third from Aries and Aries is eleventh from Gemini. The final compound label still needs their natural relationship.

Scope of the table

The table covers Sun through Saturn. The self-comparison diagonal is blank, and nodes are omitted. A blank does not mean Neutral. Unknown would be an unavailable value, not a sixth friendship category.

The Dignity column's Neutral means that a particular dignity label was not assigned; it is not this relationship calculation. A planet can therefore have Neutral dignity while its relation to another graha is Friend or Enemy.

Friendship is one factor in traditional interpretation. It should not replace house lordship, dignity or the actual conjunction and aspect rules being examined.
