The sixth house in Kundli
The sixth house, or Ari bhava, concerns debts, disputes, illness, service and the effort required to deal with obstacles. These topics explain its difficult-house classification without making every sixth-house placement a forecast of misfortune.
Obligations and opposition
Debt introduces an obligation; a dispute introduces opposition. Service can involve sustained work for others. A traditional reading uses the actual question to select among these meanings rather than assuming that every listed topic must appear as an event.
A connection with the tenth lord may bring service or competition into a work question. The same connection cannot identify an illness. Health depends on medical evidence, not a house label.
Both difficult and developing
The sixth belongs to both dusthana and upachaya groups. The first recognises difficult subjects; the second concerns development through effort. These categories can coexist, so neither “all bad” nor “always improves” accurately describes the house.
For Cancer lagna, Sagittarius is the sixth house and Jupiter is its lord. Jupiter's natural benefic classification does not erase its responsibility for sixth-house topics in that chart. The benefic guide distinguishes those two roles.
Vipreeta Raja combinations involving difficult-house lords have their own conditions. Merely seeing a planet in the sixth does not establish one.
