Panchang reference
What is Yoga in Panchang?
Yoga (योग) in Panchang is one of 27 divisions of the combined sidereal longitudes of the Sun and Moon.
Each division spans 13°20′ of that combined position. As the Sun and Moon move, the yoga changes. The sequence starts with Vishkambha (विष्कम्भ) and ends with Vaidhriti (वैधृति), then repeats. Its periods are not fixed clock days.
How to read the row
The Yoga row gives the yoga active at sunrise in the selected city. Its ending time marks the transition to the next name.
For Delhi on 2 October 2026, it reads Vyatipata until 18:14, then Variyan. Vyatipata is the sunrise value; Variyan begins at 18:14 that evening. The row records the morning's value even after the change.
Yoga and nakshatra use different positions
Nakshatra describes the Moon's position alone. Panchang Yoga uses the combined Sun and Moon positions. Both have 27 divisions, but their names and transition times are different. A change of nakshatra does not require a simultaneous change of yoga.
Other meanings of yoga
This part of the Panchang is also called Nitya Yoga. It is distinct from physical yoga practice, planetary combinations in a birth chart, and calendar combinations such as Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga.
The dashboard's Now label does not rate the current Nitya Yoga. It follows the daily time-window rules described in how the verdict works. A yoga name and a Good or Avoid label can therefore appear together without describing the same thing.
