Panchang reference
How the Now verdict works
The Now label summarises the active daily time windows for the selected city at the current moment.
It appears on today's view and changes as windows begin and end. It is not a verdict for the whole date, a personal forecast, or a summary of every part of the Panchang.
The rules, in order
- Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda or Gulika active: Avoid.
- Otherwise, Abhijit Muhurat active: Good.
- Otherwise, use the current Choghadiya's Good, Neutral or Avoid label.
This order is the site's timing convention. Different traditions can combine windows differently. On Wednesdays, Abhijit is unavailable, so that rule does not apply.
A worked example
Consider Delhi on 2 October 2026, using city time:
| Moment | Active windows | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 08:00 | Labh Choghadiya (Good) and Gulika | Avoid: Gulika takes priority. |
| 12:00 | Kaal Choghadiya, Rahu Kaal and Abhijit | Avoid: Rahu Kaal takes priority over Abhijit. |
| 12:20 | Shubh Choghadiya (Good) and Abhijit | Good: Abhijit is active and Rahu Kaal has ended. |
The Choghadiya row keeps its own name and label. When a higher-priority window has a different quality, the Now label names both layers. R, Y and G badges identify overlapping Avoid windows in the Choghadiya lists; the strip marks them with hatching.
What is outside the verdict
The sunrise Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana rows describe parts of the Panchang. Their names do not set Now. Planetary Hora and Brahma Muhurta also remain separate from this rule order.
A Good label therefore does not certify every condition for a ceremony. An Avoid label describes a traditional preference about starting activities, not a prediction that something bad will happen.
For example, at 12:20 in the Delhi example above, Now would say Good while Vishti karana is active. The traditional interpretation guide explains how those statements can coexist and what a fuller reading considers.
