Libra in Vedic astrology

Libra, or Tula, is sign 7 in the sidereal zodiac. It spans 180° up to 210° longitude, with its own internal degrees running from 0° to just under 30°.

Classification Value
Sign ruler Venus
Element Air
Mode Movable

Exchange and agreement

Libra is associated with exchange, trade and weighing competing considerations. As movable Air ruled by Venus, it brings questions of agreement and relating into the interpretation.

Negotiating terms that both parties can accept is an everyday illustration. The same attention to alternatives can make a decision difficult when every concession has a cost. Libra does not mean an absence of disagreement, and its presence alone is not a compatibility result.

Venus’s sign and Saturn’s exaltation

Venus rules Libra. Saturn is exalted here and the Sun is debilitated here. Exaltation does not transfer sign ownership: Venus remains the dispositor of either graha.

Libra is movable and air. Its seventh place in the zodiac does not make it the seventh house in every chart. For Cancer lagna, for example, Libra is the fourth whole-sign house.
