Ketu in Krittika

Modern readings of Ketu in Krittika include a protective concern for people who need care. The emphasis is on looking after someone and attending to their needs.

Helping with a dependent person’s everyday needs illustrates the care theme. The placement does not establish a caregiving role, parenting ability or a person’s motives.

Ketu and Krittika

Ketu is often read through a weakening attachment to things that once seemed important. This may be described constructively as freedom from a consuming desire or an interest in spiritual inquiry. A more difficult expression is disengagement without a clear sense of what should replace the former interest.

Krittika (कृत्तिका) is associated with fire and the work of preparing or transforming material. Agni is its deity. Its traditional associations include the ritual fire and crafts that use heat, so the meaning includes useful transformation as well as the capacity to consume.

Position, padas and lord

Krittika’s sidereal span is 26°40′ Aries to 10°00′ Taurus. Its four padas each cover 3°20′. The first pada is in Aries; the remaining three padas are in Taurus. Its Vimshottari lord is the Sun. Nakshatra lord, presiding deity and sign ruler are separate roles.

The sign context depends on the actual position: compare Ketu in Aries and Ketu in Taurus. A reading limited to one sign must stay within that portion of the nakshatra.

The starting boundary is included; the ending boundary belongs to the next nakshatra. The exact degree also identifies the pada. See nakshatra and pada in Kundli for the distinction between the nakshatra lord, sign ruler and house lord.

Reading the whole chart

This guide concerns natal sidereal D1, with whole-sign houses counted from lagna.

These are modern Vedic interpretations of natal Ketu. They do not establish a classical consensus or an individual result.

Ketu’s actual sign, house, aspects and conjunctions, together with the condition of the nakshatra lord, qualify the fuller interpretation.

Use the Ketu reference for the graha’s wider meanings and chart conditions. The placement directory brings together its house, sign and nakshatra guides.

See the actual position, pada and house on the Kundli page.
