What is Brahma Muhurta?

Brahma Muhurta (ब्राह्म मुहूर्त) is a pre-dawn period traditionally associated with quiet study, prayer and meditation.

The convention used on panchang.now divides the night, from sunset to next sunrise, into 15 equal muhurtas. Brahma Muhurta is the 14th. It finishes one muhurta before sunrise, leaving the final part of the night after it.

Why its clock time changes

For an illustrative 12-hour night ending at 06:00, each muhurta lasts 48 minutes. Brahma Muhurta would run from 04:24 to 05:12. Those times are an example, not a fixed daily schedule.

With a longer or shorter night, its duration changes too. The familiar description “96 to 48 minutes before sunrise” matches a 12-hour night; panchang.now uses the actual night length for the city.

Which morning the page shows

The dashboard covers sunrise to next sunrise. Its Brahma Muhurta row belongs to the following morning, not the hours before the displayed day's first sunrise.

For Delhi on 2 October 2026, the row shows 04:37-05:26 on 3 October, before the next sunrise at 06:15. Select the previous day's page to see the window before the current morning's sunrise.

How it relates to Now

Brahma Muhurta has its own row. It does not override the Now verdict, which follows the three Avoid windows, Abhijit and Choghadiya.
